WHAT WE DO

Enjoying variety

Everything we do is about empowering and inspiring women through friendship, education, connection and advocacy.

“The QCWA is making healthy communities through connections, education, creativity and care.”
Alison Topp, Condamine/Arubial Branch.

“I've done things I thought I'd never do."
Jenni Stewart, Townsville Branch.

“I feel honoured to be a part of an organisation with a history as rich and as inspiring as the QCWA. I joined our local branch because they are a very welcoming community orientated group, have wonderful values and the QCWA is a strong voice of change and empowerment for women.”
Katie Ball, Malanda Branch.

As QCWA members, we enjoy great variety in our activities and pursuits, with the activities of each branch driven by the interests of the local members and the unique circumstances in their locality and community.

Interest in education is important to the QCWA; we are very proud of the QCWA’s Country Kitchen’s program, now in its fifth year. The QCWA also offers a range of Student Bursaries primarily to assist tertiary students with the cost of academic study. Some branches focus on knowledge and skills sharing and workshops across a raft of interests.

Many branches conduct fundraising, often to buy equipment for a local school, medical or sports facility.

Members are fond of our reputation as celebrated cooks and skilled craft workers. The public are welcome to join our competitions in cookery, floral art, photography and knitting and crocheting. Contact your closest branch for details.

We also prepare, deliver and serve food and drinks to front line responders such as volunteer fire fighters and other emergency service people during a natural disaster.

As a state wide Association we provide practical and financial support through our Public Rural Crisis Fund.

Our advocacy is indispensable and starts at branch level with issues raised forming the basis of where the QCWA lobbies governments – Local, State and Federal – for improvements and ultimately change.

The QCWA would like to thank the following for their valued support.

What bonds us is friendship and a strong desire to help others.
