QCWA donate to the Royal Flying Doctors Service
The QCWA has long acknowledged the need for such medical services as the Royal Flying Doctors Service. As one of the largest aeromedical organisations in the world, the RFDS provide extensive primary health care and 24 hour emergency services to those who live and work throughout Australia.
As pioneers for community service and engagement, the QCWA have always acknowledged what a crucial role the RFDS has played in their communities across Queensland. Beginning in 1980 the QCWA took this further with the introduction of the State External Appeal, a state wide program where members were encouraged to raise funds for a specific state wide program or charity. The first external appeal was for the RFDS and it has been supported every year since.
Every year at the Annual State Conference, QCWA State Executive present a cheque to a representative of the RFDS for the total sum of fundraising done that year. Over the last few years this amount has accumulated to $11,236.65 with $4511.95 donated this year.
Due to scheduling conflicts the RFDS were not able to attend State Conference this year however State Executive where able to meet with Janine Gardner on Tuesday to present the cheque.
