State Handcraft Exhibition Schedule for 2010

 

Entry Fee 50c Limit of one per person per section MEMBERS ONLY.  All entries must be submitted with entry fees to your Division Chairman.

 

For Division Chairman A complete list of the division’s entries and entry fees MUST be forwarded to the State Handcraft Secretary.

 

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

 

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

 

All entries must be new and not shown at a previous State Handcraft Exhibition, except those articles used in Divisional Displays, which may be entered in competition the following year.

 

Work must not have been done under tuition.

 

ALL ENTRIES entered in Exhibition must be completely finished.  Section cards must be stitched onto the front of the items.  (NOT pinned or stapled.)  JUDGES DECISION IS FINAL!

 

 

PROGRESSION OF ENTRIES:- Branch – Division – Region - State.

 

All embroidery backs must be seen except section:- 4 – Wessex Stitchery, 8 – Dimensional Embroidery,

10 – Casalguidi, 11 – Candlewicking, 14 – Australian Crosses, 15 – Silk Ribbon Embroidery, 7–  Jacobean Embroidery, 18 – Florentine on Canvas, 19 - Long Stitch Tapestry, 22 – Celtic Patchwork, 23 – Stumpwork, 24 – Naïve Appliqué, 26 – Freeform Knitting and Crochet, 36 – Creative Gold or Silver Work, 37 – Creative Fabric Waistcoat, 40 – Embroidered Bag, 53 – Iris Paper Folding Card. Also those used in Divisional Displays. Any framed or mounted craft must not exceed 55cm x 50cm or an area not more than 2750 sq cm.

 

Framed works must be WIRED for hanging otherwise will not be displayed.  Due to lack of space for adequate display, NO BED QUILTS WILL BE ACCEPTED and NO entries are to be attached to cardboard or any other backing.

 

For Divisional and Younger Set display section 67 and 68 the area allowed is 36” or 91.5cm sq.  Tablecloth is to be ½” above floor and hemmed.  A stand or frame may be used but no craft display is allowed to lean against the wall.  In Younger Set displays the age of the exhibitor is to be attached to the entry. All entries in Divisional and Younger Set displays must be finished.  All sizes must be as stated on schedule.

 

No cushion inserts accepted except in Divisional and Younger Set Displays.

 

Entries must be in the hands of the Stewards by 8.30 am Monday.

 

Judging will commence at 9.30 am on Monday.  Only judges and stewards are allowed in the room while judging is taking place.

4.   Wessex Stitchery, any item, (not framed).  Joyce Kellermeier Memorial Prize, South Coast Division 1st and 2nd

 

5.   Drawn Thread, any article (Not framed). Peg Neville Memorial Trophy, Bundaberg Branch Handcraft Committee, Burnett Division 1st and 2nd

 

6.   Ukrainian Whitework, must have eyelets, may use pastel colours. Kathleen Shanahan Memorial Shield & $10 1st Prize, Port Curtis Division Handcraft 2nd.

 

7.   Traced Embroidery, table centre, with crochet edge, edge to be judged. Franklin Cook Memorial Prize, Far Northern Division 1st and 2nd.  

 

8.   Dimensional Embroidery, modern, colours may be used. (Finished article not to be framed). Pat Harvey Memorial Prize, Darling Downs Division Handcraft 1st and 2nd

 

9.   Huckaback Embroidery, any medium, may be hemmed or fringed.  Ruby Jensen Prize, Darling Downs Division Handcraft 1st and 2nd

 

10.  Casalguidi, Modern, colours allowed, any item, (Not framed). Northern Division Handcraft Prize 1st and 2nd

 

11.  Candlewicking, Modern, colours allowed and may be sculptured. No larger than 50cm x 50cm.  No framed pictures or toys.  Leonie Lee-Archer Prize, Darling Downs Division 1st and 2nd

 

12.        Modern Reversible Blackwork, colours may be used, gold or silver, any article (Not framed). Gloria Cass Prize, Darling Downs Division 1st and 2nd

 

 

 

 

13.  Filet Net Darning, any item no smaller than 25cms sq. Coloured threads allowed.  Thelma Schultz Memorial Prize, Darling Downs Division Handcraft 1st and 2nd

68.  Younger Set Display, 6 entries, each a distinct craft, at least one Hard Craft. Age of exhibitor to be attached to each article. 1st Prize State Handcraft Cultural Committee Shield, and 2nd $5.  List of each craft and owner’s name to be sent to the State Handcraft Secretary. 1.   Embroiderer with the highest aggregate of points in the embroidery sections of the exhibition.  Leutenegger Trophy for Excellence in Needlecraft and $50.

 

2.   Best arrangement in Class 67. Denise Scherer and Rhonda Rose Trophy.
