Dulcie Graham Aus Day

Dulcie Graham, Citizen of the Year

Members of QCWA Chinchilla Branch were absolutely delighted when Dulcie Graham received the Western Downs Regional Council Citizen of the year Award, for the Chinchilla area, on Australia Day 2017.
Dulcie has been an active member of Chinchilla Branch since 1950, this is 66 years of continuous membership of the Branch. In these 66 years she has been President, Vice President, Secretary and International Officer many times over and has great knowledge of the workings of CWA. Besides Chinchilla Branch, Dulcie has also held the positions of Chairman & Secretary of Maranoa Division handcraft Committee and is still a Committee member today.
In addition to all of this Dulcie also finds time to support Handcraft, Knitting & Crochet, Cookery, Public Speaking, Dressmaking & Photography competitions. Some of her entries have gone on to state level. Dulcie does exquisite needle-work and is always happy to share her knowledge with others.
Because Dulcie has been a member of Chinchilla Branch for 66 years we all rely on her to fill us in with the history of the Branch. Her memories of events are so vivid.
As well as QCWA Dulcie has also volunteered with Scouts, Guides, Anglican Church Guild, Mothers Union, Local Ambulance Committee, Chinchilla A & P Association (steward for 13 years), Cancer Council QLD (Chinchilla Branch), O.E.S. – to name a few. While her children attended school Dulcie was involved with P & C, Mothers Club and Tuckshop over a period of 30 odd years.
We are extremely proud of Dulcie’s achievement but most of all we treasure her friendship and her willingness to share her knowledge with others. Well done Dulcie!
